I haven’t been there in ages, so yesterday I went to the Pick n Pay hypermarket for Black Friday. I was so pleasantly surprised to see how well organized they were, handling the Black Friday rush as if it was just a normal busy month-end shopping day. They at least also had ample stock, so lots of happy customers came walking out their doors when I was on my way in.

State-of-the-art shopping centre with very good natural surrounding views. Excellent Pick n Pay Hyper Store with very fresh and moderately priced food items.

I think maybe Pick&Pay should consider a new strategy. The current one is not working. The almost biggest P&P in Pretoria and almost no real useful discounts. In this economy you better wake up and shake up. People can not live on sweets and cookies and stuff. They need real savings on real products. Also on products that people actually need and buy. Putting massively expensive dishwashing tablets on sale helps very few. If they can’t feed their children then they wont be able to use a discount on a product that they have not been able to afford for months now. The consumers in this country should start to let their voices heard as well.
