The staff is what held this place together. We were in the 1 bedroom apartment. Our biggest issue was the cleanliness of the hotel. You can clearly see a deep clean has not been completed in years. Moulded shower grout, old stains on walls and dirty carpet and fabric chairs. We had a big ant problem in our room and family that stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment had the same issue. Old moulded pizza was found in the microwave from previous guests. Restaurant quality food was below average. Daily inclusive breakfast was no hot food and we noticed over our stay that the sliced meats and cheeses as well as pre made smoothies were being reused the following days. We ordered food from the restaurant one evening which was again below average however our concern was with the Malva pudding that was served with expired custard. As a pregnant women I was very worried how this can happen in a kitchen. Staff quickly noticed the smell of the custard and agreed it was off. I don’t believe there is proper hygiene protocols being followed in the kitchen. Staff were friendly and always available to help. Just a heads up the pool is ankle deep water. Definitely would only be suitable for children 4 years and under. Disappointed in our overall experience at The Lakes Hotel.
