The rooms are severely overpriced and the rating given for the place is a joke.
The rooms have drywall separating them. So you can hope for no privacy. I could overhear our neighbours conversations, and no doubt they could probably hear some of ours too. There was a hole in the ceiling above my shower(Room 3). There were literal bugs (little brown cockroaches) and ants in the bathroom. The toilet seat was attached wrong so it was skew. if someone showers, the whole bathroom floor floods with water.
The bed was okay, just no cable connection so TV was not working. And there were no adapters for the wall sockets. I had to buy and 2 prong adapter to charge phones and use a hairdryer.
There are no other facilities in the place, besides the hair salon which is actually quite decent. Very important!! There is no café or breakfast or grills on the property. There’s nothing in the space that I imagine is supposed to be there advertised dining area. We had to Mr Delivery KFC for breakfast. And the advertised pool is dirty! And there’s no spa facilities either. The whole place is a fraud.
This could all be overlooked, but for R800-R900 per room per night!?
The proprietor is RUDE. He justified that price by explicitly mentioning the amenities, which as mentioned before does NOT exist.
Onto the terrible service! Our room was not cleaned properly any of the days we stayed at Erasmia. Day 1, the cups in our room were rinsed out. There was still soggy milk solids at the bottom of the cups, and the tea/coffee service was not replenished. The room was not swept. Day 2, I had to call different people, including the proprietor who was not on site at any point to bring us clean towels. Before a wedding reception. By the time we got to shower, the water was cold. After the reception, we returned to find that the entire room had not been cleaned. Bed was unmade, and bathroom was still wet.
Did I mention that the proprietor is rude? And clearly has an ego issue if he doesn’t like to receive criticism from people who are paying close to 1k to sleep in this substandard establishment. (See replies to other reviews if you’re wondering what I’m talking about). Having chatted with other people staying at the same time, you may receive a marginally better room based on your social status – at the same price of R800-R900. So essentially, for a substandard room you would have to pay the same as for a serviceable room.
Do not waste your money. For less money, you can get actual hotel service delivery and not have to go through so much trouble.
The stay at Erasmia was stressful and unpleasant. 110% would not recommend. Very unprofessional.
