Firstly, the building itself is very nice! Old stylish furniture, large rooms, nice garden. However… We arrived but there was pretty much no welcome. We were handed some keys to our rooms and then staff just ran off. We were left there with no clue about the surrounding area with a bunch of dogs that seem to live on and inside the property. I love dogs, but it wasn’t just 1 or 2, but rather 5-7 dogs including a cat, bird and bunnies just roaming around. During the night they all slept on the sofas in the lounge (which was cute, but very unhygienic), and sometimes barked during the night which woke everyone up in the building. It’s a beautiful place but it looked like basic maintenance had been absent for years. Many things were broken, the pool was out of service, dog/bunny droppings everywhere in the garden including rusty nails on the ground (!). Can’t imagine having smalls kids around here. In our room 4-8 lights were broken, hairs in the bathtub (not ours) and stains in the sheets and spiderwebs everywhere. Overall our stay was okay, and so bizarre that we can laugh about it, but nowhere near 3 star rating as advertized.
