The World’s Biggest Braai At Loftus Versfeld

The World’s Biggest Braai by Big Save is returning to Pretoria on Thursday, 24 September 2026, bringing 3,000 people together around the fire for an official Guinness World Records title attempt.

Taking place at Loftus Versfeld, the event will see participants braai simultaneously as they attempt to claim the title for the most people grilling or barbecuing at the same time. Once the record attempt is complete, the day continues with live music, food, family entertainment and plenty of Heritage Day fun.

Braai For The Record

Gates open at 09:00, with the official braai beginning at 10:00 sharp. Participants will have access to a pre-lit braai station and everything they need to take part.

Your braai ticket includes a portion of wors, a fresh roll or portion of pap, a branded apron and a pair of tongs to keep. Vegetarian and Halaal braai options are also available.

There is one important rule during the official attempt: participants must remain at their allocated braai station for the full braai period. This means no walking around, visiting other stations or leaving to take photos, as every participant needs to be counted towards the record.

The Festival At Loftus Versfeld

Once the record attempt is complete, the festival continues from 12:00 to 20:00. Expect live performances, food trucks and drink vendors, brand activations with games and prizes, plus family-friendly zones with entertainment and chill areas.

The lineup includes Shekhinah, Matthew Mole, Zaan Sonnekus, Ben Rodrigues, Lady Zamar and Mafikizolo.

There will also be a beer garden for guests aged 18 and over. Children aged 12 and under can attend the festival with an accompanying adult but may not participate in the braai.
