The Original Oktoberfest in Pretoria 2026

Dust off your lederhosen and prepare to raise a stein as the Original Oktoberfest returns to the Deutsche Internationale Schule Pretoria. Now in its 48th year, the festival brings Bavarian food, beer, music, dancing, carnival rides, market stalls, and plenty of Gemütlichkeit to the capital.

German oompah band Die Frankenräuber will perform in the main tent, while the wider festival line-up includes Robbie Wessels, Dodo Nyoka, Nicholis Louw, Ivan Roux, Maeztro, Drommedaris, and Cantina Brass.

The festival opens on Thursday with a VIP evening featuring traditional food and live music. Friday turns up the energy with DJs, dancing, festival lights, Bavarian dishes, and cold beer. Saturday is Family Day, with children’s activities, carnival rides, market stalls, a Weißwurst breakfast, the traditional Laternenlauf, and live entertainment continuing into the evening.

Visitors can look forward to German favourites such as Eisbein, Kassler, Bockwurst, pretzels, and Lebkuchen, accompanied by German and local beers. Official Oktoberfest merchandise and raffle tickets will also be available.

The event is entirely cashless, and card payments are accepted. Secure parking is available at no charge. Children aged 12 and younger enter free, although anyone purchasing alcohol must be 18 or older and may be asked to present identification.
