The Watching King

Date: 13 to 23 November 2025

Dropping later in November at The South African State Theatre, this drama hails from a village in Metsweding where a young warrior is chosen (and resists) the call to protect his people. Matlhodi, the current Watcherr, selects Modise as her successor. A fierce warrior with a noble heart, Modise grapples with the burden of his calling. He attempts to resist the call to the Watchtower. It’s slightly more mature in theme, but if you enjoy tense, story‑rich theatre, it’s right up your alley.
