Top Thrift Shops In Pretoria

Joburg Admin / May 1, 2023

There’s a sense of adventure behind hunting and rummaging in search of that one perfect item that’ll complement your wardrobe, home, or life, perfectly. And while we all love a pleasant stroll through a mall, going on a thrift-run through town gives you a certain sense of wonder. So, let’s take a look at some nifty thrift stores in Pretoria.

Bellbottoms

Bellbottoms is a classic store on Pretoria’s famous Antique Route 6. At bellbottoms, you will find tons of nifty knick-knacks, beautiful antique furniture, and other treasures. They sell all sorts of things, from furniture to books, old bottles and tins (classic plaaskombuis decor), and even some clothing items, among so many other baubles and trinkets. Set aside at least an hour if you plan on dropping by - that should give you enough time to do some real browsing.

Where? Pierneef Heights, 1051 Pierneef St, Villieria, Pretoria

Sungarden’s Hospice Charity Shop

The Sungarden’s Hospice Charity Shop in Pretoria is a great place to find some cool thrift items while being simultaneously charitable. You never know what you might find when you visit this shop - it’s a great place to go hunting for some vintage items. Whether it’s clothing, a cool book or exciting baubles, there’s bound to be something eye-catching. So, why not try your luck? You may find a real treasure. And if you have some old clothes or household items to donate, they would be genuinely happy.

The Vintage Square Thrift fair

What’s more thrifty than a once-a-month pop-up thrift fair market? At least once a month you can head down to Duncan Yard to check out the Vintage Square Thrift Fair with your pals. You’ll be treated to a vintage clothing selection (for men and women) spread out over 12 stalls all from different vintage stores. Keep an eye out for the event dates on this market, folks - there are unique wardrobe treasures to be found.

Where? Duncan Yard, C/o Prospect and, Jan Shoba Street, Hatfield, Pretoria

The Retro Rabbit

The Retro Rabbit is another gem that you can find on the Antique Route 6 in Pretoria. This family owned and run store revitalises and restores vintage and antique furniture and lifestyle items. You’ll find all types of treasures here, including furniture, wall decor, old bottles, metalwork, medals, and all sorts of other odds and ends. In addition to the antique and vintage items, The Retro Rabbit also sells hand-crafted furniture. They run a community project in which they train individuals to make furniture and wooden items from scratch. Head down to The Retro Rabbit soon a bit of ‘funtiquing’ as they might say.
