The Nutcracker: A Brand-New Production at Montecasino This Festive Season

Cape Ballet Africa and Global Star Events proudly present a brand-new production of the magical ballet The Nutcracker. The production features South Africa’s finest classical dancers joined by renowned international guest stars, collaborating to bring Tchaikovsky’s enchanting score to life.

A Christmas Season Must-See

Witness a transformation from a Christmas Eve ball to a world of dancing snowflakes and the Kingdom of Sweets. Be enchanted by this classic tale of the courageous Nutcracker Prince, as he battles to save his Princess.

Dazzling choreography and stunning costumes complement the magnificent music, creating a truly unforgettable, fantastical experience. From the iconic “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” to the vibrant “Waltz of the Flowers,” every moment is a visual feast for the senses.

The Phenomenal Cast

Staged by renowned London-based choreographer, Maina Gielgud, and with magnificent sets designed by Michael Mitchell, this timeless ballet captures the wonder and joy of the festive spirit.

The magical classic features South Africa’s top classical ballet talent from Cape Ballet Africa, alongside acclaimed international guest artists. Together, they bring Tchaikovsky’s timeless score to life in a dazzling spectacle of festive enchantment.

Denis Cherevychko, from Kyiv, Ukraine, danced for over a decade with the Vienna State Ballet, has undertaken guest performances for some of the world’s major dance companies. This includes Paris Opera Ballet, Teatro San Carlo (Italy) and Hungarian National Ballet. Cherevychko has also performed the leading male roles in all of ballet’s classics, such as Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Giselle and The Nutcracker.

Brazillian Arthur Wille is the rising star of the UK’s London City Ballet. He has danced major roles in Giselle, Raymonda, Don Quixote and Le Corsaire.

Cape Ballet Africa’s The Nutcracker marks both dancers’ African debut.

The season opens on 4 December 2025 and continues until 20 December 2025.

Show Times:

  • No Monday performances
  • Tuesday/Wednesday to Sundays
  • Matinees: 13:00 and 15:00
  • Afternoons and Evenings: 17:30 and 19:30

Recommended for all ages over five years.
