We the 99's People's Summit for Global Economic Justice, which will take place at Johannesburg's iconic Constitution Hill from 20 to 22 November 2025 will see voices from all over the world unite for justice, equality, and transformation.
What Is The We The 99's People's Summit for Global Economic Justice
The event, which is being held in South Africa for the first time two days before the G20 Leaders' Summit, will question and reinterpret prevailing narratives regarding the world economy. We the 99 will provide a forum for individuals, groups, and communities to argue that economic decisions should benefit people rather than markets, while G20 leaders convene behind closed doors to determine the fate of billions.
Through movement-building, civil society discourse, and music, the highly anticipated, meticulously planned three-day event will examine global injustice and promote people-centered alternatives.

About The We The 99
We the 99 think that organising the event as a counterbalance to the G20 is an opportunity to rethink an international economic order focused on justice, solidarity, and shared prosperity at a crucial time for global power-shifting.
Calls for debt justice, fair taxation, equitable climate finance, and economic democracy; issues at the centre of people's daily struggles but frequently missing from elite decision-making tables; will be amplified at the summit.

What To Expect at The Event?
Politically conscious artists will provide an engaging, participatory event that is both intellectually urgent and emotionally resonant by creating a dynamic setting that connects policy advocacy, activism, and creative expression. In addition to being a place for celebration, We the 99 will serve as a focal point for persistent, international action to transform the future economy for the benefit of people and the environment.

On all festival days, a top-notch lineup of gifted performers and creatives will provide a variety of entertainment options. The celebrations feature well-known names like iPhupho L'ka Biko, Buhlebendalo, Lebo Mashile, Maglera Doe Boy, DBN Gogo, DJ Kenzhero and The Brother Moves On, demonstrating that it is a really people-driven event.
“Inequality can’t just be debated in conference halls – it’s challenged in the streets and sung on our stages. We’re calling out a global economy built by and for the 1%. We the 99 uprising festival is about young people making themselves heard. It’s a declaration that the future belongs to us. Young people, artists, and workers are turning protest into power. This is what global solidarity sounds like, the heartbeat of a world ready to rise from the G20 to the festival grounds – We the 99 are uniting to demand tax justice, fair public spending, and an equal world where wealth and power are shared”, says Kearabetswe Moopelo, Programme Officer, Advocacy & Campaigns – New Economy Hub.
Stay tuned, stay ready, stay involved.
