This December, the acclaimed Momo's Magical Adventure will return to Sandton City with an intriguing new plot. The show production, which runs from 5 December 2024 to 5 January 2025, is being organised in association with Standard Bank Private, whose sponsorships support the arts and culture in the communities it serves. This well-liked family production is ready to captivate audiences once more after its triumphant debut the previous year and its recognition with an ICSC Global Maxi Award and a Naledi Theatre Award.
A Family-Friendly Adventure
This year, Momo takes a heartwarming trip that includes stargazing beneath the glittering highveld night sky, diving into the luminous sea, and then taking a flight into space for an absolutely surreal cosmic odyssey. A lively and thrilling new adventure awaits Momo, the lone explorer, and her cherished sidekick, Mack the Meerkat. Along the way, they will meet fascinating new characters like Polly the Northern Star, who has fallen from the glittering night sky, Bertie-Stargazer the celestial and majestic Unicorn, and mysteriously magical deep-sea creatures. The charming pair will discover some amazing new places and meet some amazing new people.
A Heartwarming Must-See
Through immersive physical performance, dance, music, and a visual feast of lighting design and projections, Momo's most recent adventure will come to life. Along with a vibrant new cast, award-winning actor Tebogo Molepo will reprise his role as Momo. Director and theater maker Kirsten Harris, choreographer Owen Lonzar, composer James Bassingthwaighte, costume and puppet designer Trudie Ströh, set designer Nadine Minnaar, production designer Louis Minnaar, and lighting designer Vincent van Niekerk are all part of the creative team led by producer Lyall Ramsden.
When To Catch The Show
Momo’s Magical Adventure will once again see the show staged in a uniquely designed theatrical tent in the centre court outside Checkers.
There will be four shows per day: Tuesday to Sunday, at 11:00, 13:00, 15:00 and 17:00. There will be no performances on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Tickets cost R 60 each. Tickets are available at the centre, but audiences are strongly encouraged to pre-book online as shows tend to sell out quickly. Visit www.sandtoncity.com to pre-book your tickets.
