Something’s Brewing At The Second Cheers Beer Festival

Craft beer fans can look forward to sampling some of South Africa’s refreshingly unique brews at the Cheers Beer Festival. The event will feature a wide variety of artisanal drinks and gourmet food stalls, showcasing South Africa’s most talented brewers, distillers and producers of quality craft liquor.

The Cheers Beer Festival will provide an interactive and experiential platform to enjoy one of South Africa’s favourite pastimes – sipping on a cold one. Visitors will have the opportunity to sample an exquisite range of craft beers produced by local micro-breweries including Boston Breweries, Growler Brewing Co., SMACK! Republic Brewing Co. and Cederberg Brewery. Also, tasty gourmet street food will satisfy any hunger and visitors can also look forward to plenty of live entertainment throughout the day. Rugby fans can also enjoy the South Africa vs France rugby test match, live on a big screen at 17:00.

Fiela Se Kind Featuring The Original ‘Fiela’, Shaleen Surtie-Richards

This June, don't miss the famous retelling of the classic Afrikaans story, Fiela Se Kind. Fiela Komoetie raised her foundling white child, Benjamin, with love and pride until one day, nine years later, the census men come to fetch him. On the other side of the mountain lives the woodchopper, Elias van Rooyen and his wife, Barta, whose three-year-old, Lukas, disappeared the same day Benjamin was found. Are Benjamin and Lukas the same child? Years later, it's Benjamin/Lukas who struggles with the question of who he actually is. He must know, otherwise, the woman he came to love will never be his.

Dalene Matthee’s well-known production is arranged for the stage by Suzanne van Wijk and Frans Swart. Starring Sharleen Surtie-Richards, Marissa Claasen, Jaime du Toit, Edrien Erasmus, Johny Klein, Paul Lückhoff, Divan Prinsloo, Vian Singleton, Graigan Swartz, Marilise van Wyk, Phillru van Achterbergh, Nardus van der Vyver and Dirk Vermeulen.
